This course is a conceptual study of the history and strategy of sea faring nations. The course examines the political and military impact of events from the birth of sea power in the Mediterranean, to the expansion through the Atlantic Ocean, and the spread of sea power to North America. It examines the development of strategy on the seas, and the impact on global economic forces. This course uses examples of military engagements on the seas from the American Revolution to the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
